Story
The project has evolved beyond a single deck of inquiry cards into a small ecology of recognizable NFC objects. Bamboo leaf tokens make discovery tangible and inviting: a child can collect, carry, tap, and revisit an encounter without needing to navigate a conventional screen. ID cards identify participants, FacultyAI personas, memberships, or roles. Compact keychain cards attach to instruments, specimens, books, cases, plants, rooms, and other physical objects, allowing each thing to open its own record, instructions, history, media, or inquiry in the Atlas. The common interaction remains deliberately simple: bring a person or object to the reader, tap, and continue the inquiry.
Harvest 2026
The 2026 concept now defines a shared NFC identity model across bamboo leaf tokens, personal and institutional ID cards, and keychain object cards. The bamboo leaves establish the child-friendly and field-guide vocabulary; ID cards establish identity and role; object cards extend the same system into the material environment.
Before 2 November
Prototype the three forms as one interoperable system. Finalize dimensions, iconography, attachment and child-safety requirements, NFC encoding, object and person record schemas, reader behavior, and a first end-to-end Atlas demonstration in which a leaf, an ID card, and a tagged object each resolve to the correct living record.
